Elmer H.Anderson Parks Excellence Award 2008

We are pleased to announce that JCPD was selected to receive an Elmer H. Anderson Park Excellence Award at the 2008 Nevada Recreation and Park Society State Conference in Reno, Nevada for the Hidden Valley Neighborhood Park

This JCPD park design project included updating the existing Hidden Valley Regional Park Master Plan by working together with the immediate neighbors and the SE Citizen Advisory Board. Public workshops were conducted to provide consensus for the master plan updates and proposed neighborhood park improvements. The Hidden Valley Neighborhood Park provides paved parking and trailhead access to the existing regional park trails and to the Virginia Range beyond, an accessible group use area with picnic shelter and other day use facilities. These facilities include: an accessible children’s playground and tot lot area, individual picnic sites, horseshoe courts, and large turf areas with landscaped borders and trails. All of the neighborhood park improvements are sited in a natural bowl, well away from neighbors’ homes, with a spectacular view of the Reno skyline and the Sierras.
